Our new library catalog, which we share with the UM System Libraries, launched on June 22, 2022. The new catalog is integrated with the search box on the homepage of the UMKC library website. The library search now includes our books, scores, recordings, and other physical materials, as well as articles, eBooks, journals, video, and other digital materials from library databases.
Find physical materials owned by UMKC Libraries
Use the search box on the homepage of the UMKC library website to find and request physical library materials like books, journals, music scores, DVDs, or audio recordings. You can search by topic or keyword, or by title or author for specific items.
After entering search terms and viewing an initial list of results, choose “Catalog Only (UMKC)” under the “Limit To” menu in the left hand toolbar. This will narrow your results to only items in the UMKC Libraries catalog.
For a brief overview of how to use the library search, watch this introductory video:
Find physical materials owned by UM System Libraries
Check the box for “Catalog Only” if you want to see only physical materials owned by University of Missouri Libraries in your search results; this includes UMKC collections.
UMKC users may borrow materials from other UM System Libraries for the same time period you may borrow our own materials.
Request materials from the UMKC library robotic storage unit
Use the search box on the homepage of the UMKC library website to find the materials you need. If the location is listed as “UMKC Robot Storage” (the robotic storage unit at the main UMKC library), use the Place Request button to have the item retrieved by library staff.
Collect your requested materials at the First Floor Service Desk. If you would like to retrieve your requested materials right away, speak to a desk worker to tell them that you recently placed a request and library staff will prioritize retrieving them.
View Your Library Account
See the list of materials you have borrowed, view their due dates, or renew your loan on materials (extend the due date) by logging in to your My Library Account. On the UMKC library website, click the My Account link in the top right corner. Choose My Library Account. Use your UMKC username and password to log in.
“My MOBIUS Account” is where you can use your UMKC username and password to log in and view or manage items you have requested or borrowed from other Missouri libraries using the MOBIUS catalog.
“Interlibrary Loan +Renew” is where you can log in to place Interlibrary Loan requests or renew your current Interlibrary Loans.
When you are already logged in to the library search, use the the “My Library Account” link at the top of the page to access your library account and view or manage your requests or borrowed materials.
Request items from LaBudde Special Collections or Marr Sound Archives
When you find an item in the library catalog that is located in LaBudde Special Collections or the Marr Sound Archives, you will see a “Request item through email” link. Click the link to open an email request form pre-filled with the item’s information.
Merge your old and new myEBSCO accounts
If you previously created a myEBSCO account to save items to your personal folder, you will not see those items in your folder under the new system. You can transfer your saved items to your current folder by following these instructions from EBSCO to Merge Personal User Accounts.
Why am I prompted to review EBSCO’s privacy policy when logging in?
The first time you log in to the new catalog, you may be asked to review EBSCO’s privacy policy. EBSCO is the vendor for the software that powers the library search. The privacy policy pertains to myEBSCO personal accounts. Your UMKC library user account it is separate from a myEBSCO personal account, but you must consent to the policy to be able to make requests for materials from the new catalog.
After consenting to the privacy policy you will gain access to more features in the library search, including the ability to save items and searches, to create folders and organize materials, and more. You may have already created a myEBSCO personal account when using our other EBSCO databases and you can merge that account with your library account.
The personal information EBSCO collects will not be sold to others. The EBSCO data privacy policy was reviewed by the Libraries and the appropriate University of Missouri legal and information security personnel to ensure it met the requirements for protecting the personal information of our students, staff, and faculty.
If you choose not to consent, you can still use the library catalog via Guest Access, but you will not be able to access the library’s electronic resources and you will need to contact UMKC Libraries Circulation Services to request materials stored in the Robot (robotic storage unit at the main UMKC library).
