Taste of Africa

As part of International Education Week, the UMKC Libraries are partnering with the International Student Affairs Office to host a cultural celebration focusing on countries in Africa, from which many of our international students join us.

In celebration of our community of international students at UMKC, learn about the cultures of several countries within the continent of Africa through a series of speakers, performances, and authentic cuisine.

  • Professor Jimmy Adegoke – “From Cairo to Cape Town: Tales of a Nomadic African Diaspora Environmental Scientist”
  • Dr. Peter Morello – “Ethiopia: A Vast Repository of Culture and History”
  • Live performances by UMKC students
  • Authentic cuisine tasting provided by Fannie’s African and Tropical Cuisine

Join us on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 3:00pm – 4:30pm on the first floor of the UMKC Library in the iX Theatre as we celebrate the diverse cultures, traditions, and art of Africa.
