Second Floor Renovations

Renovation work will occur on the second floor of Miller Nichols Library October through December 2024. Work times are Monday – Friday, between 7:30am – 3:30pm. The second floor will remain open for study during this time with a Silent Study noise level expectation. Library users should expect some noise from behind the walls in the center of the floor.

Quieter study options

  • The ground floor and third floor of Miller Nichols Library are designated as Quiet Conversation. The ground floor should not experience background noise from renovations.
  • Free earplugs are available from a library service desk.
  • Borrow headphones from a library service desk with a photo ID.

Renovation plans and timeline

An area formerly used by staff will be renovated to become open silent study space.

  • Beginning October 21: Construction. Work times are Monday – Friday, between 7:30am – 3:30pm. The construction will occur behind a wall and current study space will not close.
  • Winter 2024: New study space expected to open.

The library is selecting sound-dampening study pods for the second floor. These are product photos of potential new furniture.
