Order a Copy
All duplication services are executed by Marr Sound Archives staff and include audio and video reproductions. Requests are governed by department policy, federal copyright law, and other restrictions that may apply to specific collections and sensitive material.
Services & Fees
We are currently testing a pay-what-you-can model for digitization requests services to ensure access to our collections regardless of financial situation. We will use the “Audio/Video Copy – Marr Sound Archives Items” fees below to give you an estimate of the value of labor to complete your request but you are free to pay that amount, more, or less, as you are able. The pay-what-you-can model does not apply to digitization services for users’ items. We welcome direct or anonymous feedback on this model.
Public Use
Permission to publish, exhibit, broadcast, perform or quote from material in the Marr Sound Archives requires written permission. The receipt of copied materials does not automatically grant permission to publish. The researcher agrees to take full responsibility for any actions, causes of action, costs, expenses, damages, claims, and demands whatsoever which may arise by reason of any use by the researcher or others permitted by the researcher of said material.
NOTICE/WARNING CONCERNING COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a copy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the copy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a copy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
