Roos Read “Disability Visibility”

October 14-17, 2024 is Disability Week at UMKC

The UMKC Disability Alliance, in partnership with the UMKC Division of Diversity and Inclusion, is hosting a week of performances, panel discussions, workshops, and an art exhibit “to discuss disability and celebrate the knowledge, creativity, and innovations born from our shared experiences.”

Roos Read 2024: Disability Visibility

Roos Read is an annual intercampus initiative from the UMKC Division of Diversity and Inclusion that “encourages you to read a recommended title that showcases a distinctive voice, perspective, or theme and engage in discussions intended to generate action toward change.” The 2024 Roos Read book is “Disability visibility: First-person stories from the twenty-first century,” edited by Alice Wong. The author will give a talk at UMKC on November 6, 2024.

Find a copy of “Disability Visibility” through your favorite public library or independent bookstore, or read Alice Wong’s “Year of the tiger: An activist’s life.”
