The Recording Studio is part of the Digital Collaboration Studio – a collaborative effort between the UMKC Libraries and the Digital and Public Humanities initiative at UMKC. The space supports the use of digital primary source materials and artifacts for teaching, learning, and scholarship.

Recording Studio Capabilities

The Recording Studio includes a motorized video camera and an array of microphones to capture audio and video recordings, such as interviews for podcasts. It features an easy-to-use touch screen for quick and easy recording. Learn about the technologies available in the Recording Studio on the Digital Collaboration Studio webpage.

Reserve the Recording Studio for up to two hours in our online reservation system, using your UMKC username and password.

The Production Room (310D), offering audio and video editing software to facilitate more complex media projects, is only available for use by designated UMKC Digital and Public Humanities students, staff, and faculty. Contact umkcdss@umkc.edu with inquiries.

Teach in the Digital Collaboration Studio

Faculty and staff can make one-time reservations for the entire Digital Collaboration Studio in order to host classes or workshops in the central area. These reservations now include the Recording Studio! The Digital Collaboration Studio is not available as a space for classes to meet on a permanent basis. Make a reservation for your one-time class or workshop by contacting UMKC Libraries Digital Scholarship Services at umkcdss@umkc.edu. Reservations must be made 14 days in advance. Orientation to the teaching technologies available in the space is available, and information will be provided when you make a reservation.
