Study and Meeting Room Policies

Library study spaces are available to students, faculty, and staff for group study, presentations, meetings, and webinars. The Digital Collaboration Studio includes additional study and meeting rooms.

  • Study rooms can be reserved online.
  • Reservations may be made for 2 hours during regular library hours.
  • To allow fair and open access to as many students as possible, only one booking per day will be accepted from the same individual/group.
  • Reservations will be held until 15 minutes after start of the reservation.
  • Most study rooms can be reserved up to 1 week in advance.
  • Faculty, staff, and student groups can email registrarscheduling@umkc.edu to reserve the first floor learning center lobby for tabling events or for placements of temporary donation bins.

Study room with door for 2-12 people. Tables, chairs, whiteboard, piano keyboard, equipment to play LP, CD, audio cassette, VHS, DVD, Blu-ray. Max 2 hours per group per day.

Third Floor Recording Studio 310C

Recording studio and equipment

This space includes a motorized video camera and an array of microphones to capture audio and video recordings such as interviews for podcasts. Not suitable for recording the playing of music instruments, as it is a not a soundproof environment.

If Room 325 is not scheduled for library instruction or a Libraries group, the following practices will apply: UMKC-affiliated groups may schedule the room at no cost but the room is not available for non-UMKC-affiliated events. Each request will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

iX Theatre

Large space with tables, chairs and bright lighting

The primary uses of the iX Theatre are presentations, performances, and meetings sponsored by UMKC student, faculty, staff, or affiliated constituent groups. The area seats up to 60 audience members, with the potential for some informal overflow seating.

Maximum capacity: 6 people. Room includes a large table for discussion or group work, a wall-mounted monitor for collaboration via HDMI or VGA connection, and a desktop computer.

Located on the Second Floor of the Health Sciences Building. For access, enter the building and take the stairs or elevator to the second floor. Upon entering the library, take two rights at Circulation Desk, and enter the first door on your left.
