This October is UMKC's 15th annual Social Justice Book & Lecture Series, and the 2020 book selection is How to be an Antiracist, by Ibram X. Kendi. The Libraries are participating in the annual focus on social justice with the following programming:

Anti-Racist Reading List Book Display

Based on Kendi's "Anti-Racist Reading List," published in The Atlantic on February 12, 2019, this month-long book display includes the reading list titles owned by UMKC Libraries, and other books that readers can check out to contribute to their anti-racist education.

Anti-Racist Virtual Reading List

See the entire reading list on the UMKC library website, where we link to our copies of the recommended books, or other places you can borrow them.

Social Justice Book Discussion: How to be an Antiracist

UMKC Librarian Tracey Hughes will lead a live, virtual book discussion of Kendi's How to be an Antiracist on October 29 from 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public. Registation is required. Sign up here!
