The African American Read-In Bunch Book Display
Now through February 28, 2021
The UMKC Libraries celebrate Black History Month with our 12th annual African American Read-In, and this display of works from our collections by African American authors. The African American Read-In celebrates African American literature and literacy with readings of excepts from poetry, speeches, stories, and other works of literature created by African American authors and artists.
The Read-In was founded at UMKC by Gloria Tibbs, who retired last month after just short of 20 years with the UMKC Libraries. As the 2021 Read-In will be our first virtual one, we recognize Gloria in the book display banner with the place of honor at the center of our Zoom meeting-styled "African American Read-In Bunch."
Visit this book display at the UMKC Library during the month of February, to find a book to check out and take home, or to gather inspiration for what you would like to share at the African American Read-In.
We hope you'll join us at the virtual African American Read-In on February 15, 2021 at 2:00-3:00 pm CST, and we hope to return to gathering in person for the Read-In in 2022. Sign up to join us!
