Welcome New Library Staff


The UMKC Libraries welcomes new staff members to the library and to UMKC.


Lindy Smith thumbnailLindy Smith (Head of LaBudde Special Collections) Lindy comes to UMKC after positions as an archivist at the Ohio State University and Bowling Green State University. She has a bachelor’s degree in music history and literature from BGSU and master’s degrees in library and information science and musicology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is excited to get to know LaBudde’s collections and all of their present and future users.

 


Shelby Thomas thumbnailShelby Thomas (Library Information Specialist, Health Sciences Library). With a B.A. in Humanities from the University of Kansas, Shelby is currently a student in the Master of Library Science (MLS) program with Emporia State University seeking to gain meaningful experience and education to prepare for a career in academic librarianship. Shelby describes his personality as creative, dependable, trustworthy, and he is eager to help meet the needs of the UMKC Libraries.

 


Tracy Bass thumbnailTracy Bass (Night/Weekend Supervisor, Music/Media Library) is a recent graduate from the University of Missouri - Kansas City with a doctorate in horn performance. He maintains a private studio of students from the Kansas City area, along with regularly performing with ensembles across the region. In his free time, Tracy enjoys reading, hammocking, and playing on his volleyball and pickleball teams.
