Centuries of Music-Makers: 1619-2019
Now through October 06, 2019
Miller Nichols Library, Ground Floor | Music/Media Library
In Centuries of Music-Makers:1619-2019, we celebrate four composers from the last four centuries: Galina Ustvolskaya (b. 1919), Clara Wieck Schumann (b.1819), Mlle. Duval (b.1718/9), and Barbara Strozzi (b. 1619).
During their lifetimes, they were heralded for their skills as performers and teachers, but they've left a legacy of composition as well, each a rarity in their own time. We've gathered materials from our collection -- scores, biographies, anthologies and recordings -- to explore their works and the worlds that shaped their lives and output.
We'll also post recordings and articles on facebook (@UMKCMusicMediaLibrary) and twitter (@umkcmusicmedia), so follow us to learn more about these exceptional musicians.
