We are excited to announce that our new library catalog will launch on June 23, 2022. This new system will allow you to search for books, journals, articles, and more all from one search box. We will be transitioning to our new system from June 17-22, 2022. During this transition library materials will be processed manually which may result in delays in updating your account for items you borrow or return.
During the System Transition, June 17-22
Temporarily use the MOBIUS catalog (the shared catalog for libraries across Missouri) to request physical books or library materials from any UMKC Libraries location, including the Robot (robotic storage unit at the main UMKC library) and from UM System libraries. Call the library’s Circulation department at (816) 235-1526 or email circulation@umkc.edu for assistance.

Continue to use the search box on the UMKC Library website to find and access eBooks and online materials, use the MOBIUS catalog to search and request materials from other Missouri libraries, and use Interlibrary Loan to request materials from libraries beyond Missouri.
Until further notice, library staff will process requests for materials stored in the Robot (robotic storage unit at the main UMKC library) at set times each day. Collect your requested materials at the First Floor Service Desk. If you would like to retrieve your requested materials right away, speak to a desk worker to tell them that you recently placed a request and library staff will prioritize retrieving them.
From June 23
Use the search box on the homepage of the UMKC library website to find and request all physical library materials that you previously searched using the standalone library catalog.

- You can already use the library search box for this purpose. On June 23 we will implement new search refinement options so you can limit your results to physical materials based on format or type, and by library location. You will be able to limit your search to “library catalog only.”
- Requesting materials that are stored in the Robot (the robotic storage unit at the main UMKC library) and at other UM System libraries will be integrated into the main search tool.
- Materials that you have borrowed before the transition will remain checked out to you in the new system with the same due date.
Due to the complexity of this transition, we anticipate the need to resolve bugs over the summer. If you experience issues using the new catalog, please report them to us at askalibrarian@umkc.edu.
