Now – May 2024 | Miller Nichols Learning Center Foyer; Dean’s Gallery, Miller Nichols Library
In celebration of the opening of the new Divine Nine Garden at UMKC in September 2023, the UMKC Libraries are hosting a two-part exhibit honoring the history and influence of the Divine Nine, the nine Black fraternities and sororities that comprise the National Pan-Hellenic Council.
Legacy in Bloom: The History and Influence of the Divine Nine is a new exhibit commissioned by UMKC, displayed in the Miller Nichols Learning Center foyer and further explorable in this online exhibit.

Divinely Made: The Ongoing Legacy of the Divine Nine, on display in the Dean’s Gallery on the fourth floor of the library through March 22, 2024, is an exhibit on loan from the Gregg County Historical Museum (Lindsay Loy, Executive Director), accompanied by photos and memorabilia from Kansas City-local members of the fraternities and sororities.
The Divine Nine Garden is a permanent dedicated space on UMKC’s Volker campus to honor and recognize the nine Black Greek organizations that make up the National Pan-Hellenic Council. A tribute to the contributions and presence of the Divine Nine fraternities and sororities, the Garden is also a gathering place for students and alumni to reflect on and celebrate the achievements of their respective organizations.
The exhibits can be viewed during the library’s open hours. Metered parking is available in the parking lot north of the library. Meters must be paid using the AMP Park mobile app or online at https://aimsmobilepay.com/.
