Join us for a reception celebrating the opening of the exhibit An Angel in America: Remembering Jaymes Leahy from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm on Friday, June 16 on the third floor of Miller Nichols Library.
This exhibit presents Leahy’s works from 1986 until his death in 1994 and is coincident with the 40th anniversary of the first cases of HIV diagnosed and treated in Kansas City. Leahy’s papers, journals and artwork will be accepted into the collection of the Gay & Lesbian Archive of Mid-America (GLAMA) at UMKC Libraries.
The Kansas City Art Institute will host a concurrent opening reception in the KCAI Gallery at 6:00 pm. The receptions are free and open to the public.
Metered parking is available in the parking lot north of the library. Meters must be paid using the AMP Park mobile app or online at https://aimsmobilepay.com/.
