Stand With Us in Support of Racial Justice

Field of black

We are horrified, saddened, and angered by the deaths of Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and David McAtee, and we continue to mourn Kansas City’s Ryan Stokes, Cameron Lamb, Terrance Bridges, Breona Hill, Donnie Sanders, and others. We cannot stand idly by as the forces of white supremacy directly threaten the safety, well-being, and lives of our Black community. BLACK LIVES MATTER.

Please stand with us in condemning racism and anti-Blackness in all its forms– from systemic policies and practices that marginalize and terrorize communities of color to the insidiousness of white supremacy culture that define accepted norms for what is valued and deemed credible in our predominantly white institutions. THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION.

We’ve asked all library staff to engage in demonstrated acts of solidarity this week and beyond, and we want our university community to join us. The University Libraries’ Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee has compiled the following ways you can support racial justice: Call to Action: Support for Racial Justice.

Please join us in collective action. We have our own work to do, but when we challenge white supremacy in ourselves and in our institutions, we stand together. Stand with us.

In solidarity,

Dean Bonnie Postlethwaite
Associate Dean Sandy Rodriguez
