Sr. Library Information Specialist, Copy Cataloger & Finishing Supervisor (Cataloging & Resource Management)

The Copy Cataloger & Finishing Supervisor is responsible for providing copy cataloging for all formats, creating holdings and item records, and supervising student assistants who perform finishing of materials for Miller Nichols Library, including special collections, the Health Sciences Library, and the Law Library. This position is essential to achieving total automated access to all materials and discovery of these materials in the UMKC Libraries and shared catalogs. The position requires knowledge of cataloging, the ability to work independently, and high productivity. The Copy Cataloger & Finishing Supervisor reports to the Head of Cataloging & Resource Management.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in libraries.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Bibliographic proficiency with French, German, or Italian.  
  • Experience with academic library technology (e.g., OCLC, RDA Toolkit, ClassWeb).
  • Experience cataloging a variety of bibliographical formats, including print and electronic.
  • Knowledge of music and special collections materials.

Full Time/Part Time

Fully-benefit-eligible, 40-hours per week (1.0 FTE).

Salary

Salary will be commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity. The anticipated hiring range for this position is $17.02 – $18.50 per hour.

Shift

40 hours, flexible between 7am-5pm Monday- Friday, located in Room 308 of Miller Nichols Library. The UMKC University Libraries support flexible work arrangements in keeping with the Flexible Work Arrangement Policy.
