Statement from the Artist

“Human at Heart is an exploration of the environment and the self, all printed by the artist in a Chicago darkroom.

These photos present how we are so inescapably intertwined with our surroundings, may they be natural or industrial, and that sometimes our environments overpower our sense of self.

Using precise hand and tool movement, the artist presents a blending of images, hoping to convey that underneath all our environments, there is a rich past, full of humans, each one with a similar beating heart.”
