Concluding a year of renovation, the fourth floor of Miller Nichols Library is now open with refreshed study areas and new spaces for student mentoring programs and academic support services. Every part of the 30,000 square foot fourth floor was renovated, adding 304 seats for student study, 12 technology-enabled study and seminar rooms, and dedicated space for 13 programs.

Find a space to work on your own, to meet with a study group, or to lounge with others in your UMKC student mentoring program. Reserve a study room for groups from 3-8 people with wall-mounted monitors. Choose between a table with task chairs or soft seating, all with nearby power outlets.

The fourth floor is perfect for group work or gathering and allows for a Regular Conversation volume level.
Study space and meeting rooms throughout the fourth floor are open any time the library is open; check the Hours page for opening and closing times. Many study rooms can be reserved up to a week in advance for two-hour blocks of time. Some study rooms are used during the day for tutoring meetings, but can be reserved by library users for evening and weekend times.

The renovation was funded by generous gifts from the Miller Nichols Charitable Foundation, the Marion and Henry Bloch Family Foundation, the Victor Wilson Trust, and UMKC Professor Emeritus Elizabeth Noble.
