UMKC Libraries is proud to share that the following Libraries staff members were recognized at the 2024 UMKC Staff Awards!

UMKC Libraries Living the Values Award

The Libraries honor Susan Miller with this year’s Living the Values Award.

The Living the Values Award recognizes a staff employee who exemplifies excellence in one or more of the University’s key values: Learning, Diversity, Integrity, Accountability, Respect and Collaboration. Nominees must have shown extraordinary adoption of one or more of the key values in a work-related situation and each unit at UMKC has one person receive the award each year.

The strength of Susan’s nomination is in her long term goals for the Health Sciences Library and her short term focuses on student outreach and engagement. As one nominator said, “Susan’s daily work exemplifies student-centeredness, and her contributions are key to helping students find a sense of belonging on the Health Sciences campus. Susan takes initiative to organize student engagement opportunities based in the Health Sciences Library, working with collaborators in the library as well as in other campus departments. She is extremely communicative about her work and always dependable, exemplifying accountability. One of Susan’s goals is to create inclusive opportunities for students from any school on the campus to engage with the Health Sciences Library in ways that are relaxing, educational, or that support their wellness.”

Congratulations to Susan for exemplifying all that the Living the Values Award celebrates!
