2022 Friends of the Library Scholarship

The Libraries are now accepting applications for the Friends of the Library Scholarship! This $1,000 scholarship opportunity is open to any active, degree-seeking UMKC student with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

The winner will be selected based on submission of both your descriptive essay and a research paper, a musical composition, a presentation, a poster presentation, a work of art, a web page, or other creative work completed for UMKC coursework that demonstrates using the resources or services of the UMKC Libraries.

To apply, please submit the following to umkcula@umkc.edu:

  • Your name, student ID, e-mail address, and phone number
  • Indicate your degree being sought (e.g. Bachelors, Masters), department, and expected graduation date
  • 500+ word essay of how you used the library resources and services to complete the project, and what they added to your work
  • A copy or reproduction of the project submitted for course credit along with the course number, semester enrolled, and instructor’s name

Deadline for submissions: Friday, March 2022, 5:00pm*

*The scholarship winner will be announced in April. Payout is applied toward Fall 2022 & Spring 2023 tuition and fees. Applicants are advised that the short essays of use of library resources and services become the property of the UMKC University Libraries upon submittal, and may be quoted in whole or in part for use in promoting UMKC Libraries. Applying also grants the UMKC Libraries a non-exclusive license to use submitted class projects, in whole or in part, for use in promoting UMKC Libraries.
