SCOPE AND CONTENT
The Robert M. Snyder, Jr. Broadside Collection is a sub-collection of the Robert M. Snyder, Jr. Collection, the foundation collection of the Department of Special Collections. The Broadside Collection provides focused resources related to historic advertisements and announcements (i.e., broadsides), compiled from material that Snyder collected in this area.
SERIES NOTES
SERIES I: KANSAS/MISSOURI
This series is contained in Box 1, folders 1-5. This series includes broadsides from Kansas and Missouri, broken down into the following sub-series: (1) human and local conditions; (2) advertisements by Benjamin Singleton; (3) political and judicial issues; (4) reward offers; and (5) Hutchison Steam Ferry.
SERIES II: POLITICAL
This series is contained in Box 1, folder 6, and consists of broadsides with a political theme.
SERIES III: MISCELLANEOUS
This series is contained in Box 1, folder 7, and consists of miscellaneous broadsides. Included are a 127th Illinois Infantry invitation; W. Stoffregen’s Barber Shop Rules; Cholera epidemic of 1873 from Franklin, Kentucky; and Dr. John Sappington’s Anit Fever & Ague Pills.
SERIES IV: OVERSIZED
This series is contained in oversized drawer 21, and consists of oversized broadsides. Included are broadsides concerning the Missouri State Lottery; political intercourse between United States, France and Great Britain; and Women’s Suffrage.
