As would be expected, an enormous variety of furniture and office supplies were ordered for the new building. A sampling of those items is revealing of the time and the technology: 53 "secretarial desks," 64 "secretarial chairs," 48 card catalog cases, 17 electric typewriters, ten typing elements, seven cardholding platens, one "visual idea center," and 100 ash trays.
