Paul Creston Photograph Collection
The Paul Creston photographs (Series XVI of the Paul Creston Collection) contains
portraits of Creston, signed portraits of conductors and performers, and photos
from parties and conferences Creston attended as president of the National Association for American Composers and Conductors (1956-60) and director of ASCAP (1960-68). 
Highlights
of the series include the signed portraits of Dwight
D. Eisenhower, Leopold Stokowski,
and Arturo Toscanini, and the
photos of Creston with other major composers such as Virgil
Thompson, Alan Hovhaness,
and Hector Villa-Lobos. The
majority of the photographs are black and white 8" x 10" prints, with a few
color prints of varying sizes. The photos were taken between the years 1940
and 1981, with most of the photos taken between 1951 and 1972. The 127 photographs
in the collection are housed in four boxes.
