Instructions for Downloading a UMKC Libraies Toolbar

Firefox:

1. Choose the toolbar you'd like to download from the list provided (library.umkc.edu/Resources/toolbars/download.htm).
2. Follow the link to the download page.
3. Click on the "Download Toolbar" button.
4. If the Software Installation window opens, click on the "Install Now" button. Then close all Firefox windows and reopen Firefox.
5. If the Software Installation window does not appear, look for the yellow bar at the top of the page.
6. Click on the "Edit Options" button.
7. Click on "Allow" and then "OK."
8. Click on the "Download Toolbar" button again.
9. Click on the "Install Now button." Then close all Firefox windows and reopen Firefox.
10. If the toolbar does not display, click on View, Toolbars, and select the toolbar.
11. To customize your Libraries toolbar, click on the downward arrow near the left side of the toolbar, then select "Toolbar Options."

Internet Explorer:

Please note that you need to be able to download and install software on your computer in order to install the Internet Explorer toolbars. This means that for many campus computers, you will not be able to use this toolbar.

1. Choose the toolbar you'd like to download from the list provided (library.umkc.edu/Resources/toolbars/download.htm).
2. Follow the link to the download page.
3. Click on the "Download Toolbar" button.
4. When the "File Download" window opens, click on the "Save" button.
5. Save the file to your desktop. If the location does not display in the "Save in" box, use the down arrow to find and select the location.
6. Click on the "Save" button.
7. When the download has finished, close the window.
8. Go to your desktop.
9. Double click on the icon for the toolbar program.
10. Click on the "Run" button.
11. In the "License Agreement" window, make sure the "Enable Automatic Update" box is checked.
12. Click on the "Agree" button.
13. The "Additional Settings" window will display. Please note that leaving either of the boxes checked will change the way Internet Explorer behaves.
14. Make any changes you want, then click on "Next."
15. Internet Explorer should open.
16. If the toolbar does not display, click on View, Toolbars, and select the toolbar.
17. To customize your Libraries toolbar, click on the downward arrow near the left side of the toolbar, then select "Toolbar Options."
