Download
- I'm using Firefox. When I click on the Download Toolbar button, nothing
happens.
- Look at the top of your browser window. If there is a yellow box,
you need to give your computer permission to install the toolbar.
- Click
on the "Edit Options" button.
- The Allowed Sites window will open.
Click on "Allow."
- Close the window.
- Then click on the "Download Toolbar"
button again.
- If you still have problems, you can use the Feedback
Form to request assistance. Be
sure to include your contact information.
- I'm using Internet Explorer. I can download the program, but when I try to install it, I get an error message.
- If you are using a computer on the UMKC campus, security settings may keep you from installing the software. In order to use the toolbar on that machine, you will need to use Firefox.

information.
- How do I install a Libraries toolbar?
Display
- I was able to download the toolbar, but it doesn't display.
- Restart your browser.
- On the Menu bar, Click "View," then "Toolbars." Select (click on)
the name of the toolbar you want to display.
- How do I turn off my toolbar?
- On the Menu bar, click "View," then "Toolbars." Select (click on)
the name of the toolbar you want to turn off.
Customize
- How do I customize my Library toolbar?
- Click on the downward arrow near the left side of the toolbar.
- Click on "Toolbar options."
- Using the four tabs, modify the settings as desired, then click on OK.
- My Library toolbar is too wide.
There are a couple of things
that you can do to make the toolbar shorter.
- To display icons only (instead of icons plus text), click on
the downward arrow near the left side of the toolbar. Select "Shrink
toolbar."
- You can remove things from the toolbar display.
- Click on the downward arrow near the left side of the toolbar.
- Click on "Toolbar options."
- Turn off (deselect) options in any of the components tabs.
Tell a Friend
- I really like my Library toolbar. How can I let my friends know
about it?
- Click on the downward arrow near the left side of the toolbar.
- Click on "Tell a Friend ."
- Complete the form, then submit.
- Your friend will receive an email inviting her to download the
toolbar.
Update
- Does my Library toolbar update automatically?
- Yes, both Firefox and Internet Explorer toolbars will automatically update.
- How can I check to see if there is an update?
- Click on the downward arrow near the left side of the toolbar.
- Click on "Upgrade."
- Follow the instructions.
Portability
- Why doesn't my Library toolbar display when I use a different
computer?
The toolbar is stored on each machine, not as part of your UMKC Single
Sign-On profile. You will need to install the toolbar on each machine that
you use.
Privacy
- Neither UMKC nor Conduit collect personally identifiable data. To view the Conduit privacy policy:
- Click on the downward arrow near the left side of the toolbar.
- Click on "Privacy."
Uninstall
- How do I uninstall the toolbar?
- Firefox instructions:
- On the Menu bar, click on "Tools," then "Add-ons."
- Click on the "Extensions" icon.
- Select the toolbar you want to remove.
- Click on the "Uninstall" button.
- Internet Explorer instructions:
- Click on "Start," then "Control Panel."
- Open "Add or Remove Programs."
- Click on the "Change or Remove Programs" icon.
- Scroll through the list until you find the toolbar.
- Click on the name.
- Click on "Change/Remove."
- Follow the instructions to uninstall the program.
- I tried to uninstall, but got an error message.
- Try installing the toolbar again, and then uninstall it.
