- Western Historical Manuscripts
Collection
WHMC is a joint collection of the University of Missouri
and the State Historical Society of Missouri. Its materials are available
for use by scholars, students, and the public throughout the state of Missouri.
- Dental
School Instructional Resources Library
The Dental School IRL is housed in the Dental Library.
It has an extensive collection of media material and the equipment needed
to view the material. In addition it is equipped with computers which are
connected to the UMKC's ethernet, the Internet, and World
Wide Web.
- Medical
Education Media Center
The Medical Education Media Center supports programs at the UMKC
School of Medicine. It houses a collection of over 4,000 items and includes
anatomical models, audiotapes, laserdiscs, and slide sets. It provides computer-based
learning for faculty, staff, and students.

Academic Libraries
Students, faculty, and staff of UMKC have access to the materials of numerous
academic libraries in the state of Missouri through the
Missouri
Bibliographic Information User System (MOBIUS). Materials may be checked
out at member libraries in person or can be requested through the
MOBIUS
Union Catalog. Additionally, membership in the local Courtesy Card Program
allows UMKC students, faculty, and staff limited check out privileges at area
colleges and universities. Check with MNL Access Services Department at (816)
235-1526 for more information on the Courtesy Card Program.
Public Libraries
Residents of the Kansas City area, with a public library card, have access
to a wide range of resources. The metropolitan area public libraries work together
to provide reciprocal use of the books and databases they have. Databases that
may be useful to you include Facts on File, McgillOnLiterature, NewsFile, Poem
Finder, and Scribner Writers. Contact one of the public libraries for specific
information about the resources available to you.

The Wolfner Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped offers free
services to those in the State of Missouri who are unable to use standard
print materials due to a physical disability. Resources are available in
braille and large print and on cassette, descriptive video, and discs. Playback
machines also may be borrowed.
