The UMKC Libraries' databases cover a multitude of subject disciplines. Some databases provide citation/abstract only, while others offer full text. Access to some databases may be restricted to UMKC students, faculty, and staff.

Serials Solutions

Use to find: Full-text online journals, magazines, and newspapers and full-text articles in these resources

Serials Solutions lists online journals available in full-text and the databases that include these journals. You may browse by subject or title, or search by words in the title. Not all the full-text online journals available at UMKC are included in Serial Solutions. Access to some resources may be restricted to UMKC students, faculty, and staff.

MERLIN Library Catalog

Use to find: Print and some full-text online indexes, journals, magazines, and newspapers

Many of our journals, magazines, and newspapers are listed in the MERLIN Library Catalog. You will find records for all paper and microform versions and some online versions.

Miller Nichols Library Subject Guides

Use to find: Print and online indexes, journals, magazines, and newspapers

Miller Nichols Library subject guides cover a wide range of topics. These subject guides include resources for finding articles and journals in specific subject areas. Many of the subject guides include a section for Web resources.

Electronic Newspapers

Use to find: Full-text online newspapers and articles

This list includes newspaper databases available through UMKC database subscriptions and Websites that provide links to the home pages of newspapers worldwide.

Non-English Language Journals and Other Serials

Use to find: Non-English language journals held by the Miller Nichols Library , the Health Sciences Library, and the Dental Library

The Miller Nichols Library , the Health Sciences Library, and the Dental Library have print journals in many different languages.

CUFTS

Use to find: Journal, magazine, and newspaper titles

Like Serials Solutions, use CUFTS to find which databases include a particular online journal. CUFTS includes more databases than those available at the University Libraries. Hosted by Simon Fraser University Library.

Local libraries

Use to find: Other libraries in the area

Local libraries have some material that the University Libraries do not have. Use their Websites and catalogs to discover the availability of journals, magazines, newspapers, and articles at each library.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Use to request: Articles

If the UMKC Libraries do not subscribe to or have access to the full text of an article, you may be able to obtain it from another library through Interlibrary Loan (ILL).
