A database containing current and historical U. S. census data including census tract data when available from public records. Offers interactive mapping (5,000 interactive maps) linked to data reports. Training guides are available (and recommended) in Flash animation. Sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the New York Times, the resource offers census documentation and data for various geographic levels. The documentation is important as the U.S. Census Bureau has unique definitions for census geography which may change or be revised with each decennial census. Some of the data is free; however, the subscription database offers more data and mapping choices.
Coverage: United States Census & Reports 1940 – 2000 (New York City data 1910 – 2000)
