The AFI Catalog is a comprehensive listing of American feature films. The goal of the project is to include every film produced in the United States or sponsored and financed by an American company. Entries provide acting and production credits for American films and often includes a plot summary and references to reviews.
Films from 1911-1970 are included in the catalog if they are at least 40 minutes/4 reels long. For the period 1893-1910, the earliest period of film production, shorter films have also been included.
Entries in the catalog include actor and crew credits, release information, production information, key dates, songs/music, and subject. Many entries also include plot summaries and references to reviews. A "notes" field can include information like disputed credits, descriptions of location shooting, working titles, sequals or remakes, and other relevant data.
Detailed information on catalog entries and how they are produced can be found on the AFI Catalog Editorial Policy page.
