Paul Creston Exhibit Apr. 24 - May 24
The Life and Music of Paul Creston opens Tuesday, April 24th in the Dean’s Gallery on the second floor of Miller Nichols Library at UMKC.
Presented by the students of Advanced Research and Bibliography in Music, this exhibit will describe the life of one of the most popular American classical composers of the mid-twentieth century. The display will include copies of Creston’s writings and published materials on musical elements, copies of his scores - especially for works composed for less common solo instruments, as well as photographs, journals, and other personal items collected by Creston’s wife, Louise.
The opening reception on April 24th will feature a brief lecture and discussion of Creston’s life and works by the graduate students who prepared the exhibit, and includes a guest performance by Dr. Rebecca Sherburn, associate professor of voice at UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance., accompanied by Wang A Mao.
