History of UMKC: Kansas City's University

September 28, 2016 | 5:00PM Reception, 5:30PM Event
Miller Nichols Library, 3rd Floor - Room 325

Join us for a special presentation from Chris Wolff, UMKC alumnus and author of the upcoming book, A Pearl of Great Value: The History of UMKC, Kansas City’s University. Chris Wolff’s presentation will trace the historical identity of UMKC by exploring the story of our founding, the university’s traditions, and the origin of our current mission. How did we become Kansas City’s University? Why are we the Kangaroos? Have we always been an urban serving university? These questions and more will be answered through this glimpse into UMKC’s more than 80 years of history.

Preorder your copy of A Pearl of Great Value: The History of UMKC, Kansas City’s University through the UMKC Bookstore’s website. Books will also be available for purchase before the presentation, and Chris Wolff will be signing copies following the presentation. Book proceeds will support the UMKC Alumni Association’s student scholarships.

A historical exhibit that shows the university through the years is currently on display on the ground floor of Miller Nichols Library.
