The Uncrushable Rose is a moving memoir- the story of a girl born in 1939 to a Chinese diplomat father, who instilled in her a will to thrive in the face of any circumstances. Author Bambi Nancy Shen paints vivid portraits of the concentration camps she lived in during World War II, her trying relationship with her mother, and the strength of the human spirit. Bambi's story is that of a courageous and spiritual Chinese woman. Throughout her memoir she warmly shares her journey, filled with valuable life lessons of self-empowerment and freedom. In 2014 Bambi Nancy Shen recieved the "Defying the Odds" UMKC Alumni Award
