Printing PDFs at MNL

If you have experienced difficulty printing a document while using Acrobat Reader, please try the following procedure:

  1.   With the PDF file open, choose Print from the File menu within Acrobat Reader.
  2.   Click Advanced
  3.   Check the "Print as Image" option in the Print dialog.
  4.   Click OK
  5.   Click Print

Rep. Beth Low Visits Miller Nichols

On June 25, 2009 Missouri State Representative Beth Low visited Miller Nichols Library to meet with Dean of Libraries, Sharon Bostick. The Representative toured the Marr Sound Archives and LaBudde Special Collections before sitting down to meet with the Dean to discuss the Libraries’ construction and renovation project. Representative Low was elected to the House in 2004 and re-elected in 2006 to represents Missouri’s 39th District (which include UMKC, the Plaza, and Westport).

 

 

 

 

UMKC Libraries Celebrate & Congratulate Cathy Cook on 30 Years of Service

Cathy Cook standing with Dean Sharon Bostickholding her 30 year service award On June 11, 2009 Dean Sharon Bostick presented Cathy Cook, Library Information Specialist, with a crystal clock to commemorate 30 years of service to UMKC Libraries. Surrounded by colleagues and friends during the presentation, co-workers spoke with fondness and admiration of Cathy’s hard work and dedication. Reflecting on her time at Miller Nichols Library, Cathy said that she has enjoyed working at the library very much. She also shared that she has held another job even longer; she has worked part-time at Barnes and Noble for over 35 years! The celebration continued over lunch and (Cathy’s favorite) Minsky’s pizza. Congratulations and many thanks, Cathy!

 

 

 

 

UMKC Libraries Welcomes New Reference Librarian/Library Instruction Coordinator

Brent Husher, New Reference Librarian/Library Instruction Coordinator

UMKC Libraries is pleased to announce Brent Husher as the new Reference Librarian-Library Instruction Coordinator effective June 10, 2009. Brent has been serving as part-time Reference Librarian in Miller Nichols Library since October 2007. Prior to that he served as Graduate Instruction Assistant from 2005 to 2007 while completing his MA in Information Science and Learning Technologies at the University of Missouri-Columbia.   He earned his Bachelor of Science in Communication from Missouri State University. In addition to his service at UMKC, Brent also has held the positions of Reference & Instruction Librarian, at Metropolitan Community College, Longview Campus in Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Library Associate Substitute with the Kansas City Public Library in Kansas City, Missouri.
