The Library Information Commons, located on the first floor, is a collaborative, learner-centered area designed to meet the needs of UMKC students and faculty as they study and conduct research.

More than thirty computers in the Commons provide access to library databases, the MERLIN Library Catalog, and the Internet. Two Universal Access workstations provide adaptive equipment for the visually and hearing impaired. Three study rooms, accommodating two to six persons, can be reserved through the Access Services Desk by students and faculty. Reference services are provided from the Reference Desk.
