Use the MERLIN Library Catalog and the MOBIUS Union Catalog to find resources relevant to your research. Relevant works can be found using subject headings (Library of Congress) such as:

To Find Articles

Remote (off-campus) access to databases is available only to UMKC students, faculty, and staff. All other users must access online resources within the Libraries. Begin searching by selecting a database. After selection you will be prompted to provide a UMKC Single Sign-On user name and password OR a 9-digit UMKC ID number followed by the letter k (example: 0123456789k) and last name, as needed.

• Child Development Abstracts and Bibliography (1927-1992)

  Approximately 250 journals from around the world are indexed for information relevant to the study of child development. Abstracts are available for each article indexed. There is no electronic counterpart to this database currently available through the Miller Nichols Library.

  Selected full text 1996 - present.
"Education Full Text is a bibliographic database that indexes and abstracts articles of at least one column in length from English-language periodicals and yearbooks published in the United States and elsewhere. English-language books relating to education published in 1995 or later are also indexed. Abstracting coverage begins with January 1994."   Links to selected full text, 1993 - 2004. "The ERIC ( Educational Resources Information Center) database is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education to provide extensive access to educational- related literature. The ERIC database corresponds to two printed journals: Resources in Education (RIE) and Current Index to Journals in Education (CIJE). Both journals provide access to some 14,000 documents and over 20,000 journal articles per year.... There are a number of other resources for locating articles in the educational literature available in print in the 4th Floor Indexes. These resources tend to focus on a specific subject in the field of education. Among these are: Child Development Abstracts and Bibliography (1927-92 ), Exceptional Child Education Resources (1970-present), Language Teaching Abstracts (1970-present), and Sociology of Education Abstracts (1965-present).

Also, remember to make use of resources for locating articles in the specific disciplines that you are bringing to the study of education (e.g., if you are interested in educational psychology, you should consult not only the resources listed here, but also those listed on the Library Guide to Psychology; for example, PsycINFO).

• Teacher Magazine
  The monthly counterpart to Education Week, this journal includes extensive coverage of current events and feature articles too long for inclusion in its weekly counterpart.
