Accessing Databases Outside the Library

How can I search the UMKC library databases from home?

The easiest method is to use your Single Sign-On account.

• Go to the Health Sciences Library website:
• Select the database you want to search. You will be prompted to enter your Single Sign-On user name and password or a 9-digit UMKC ID number followed by the letter k (example: 0123456789k) and last name.

What if I have DSL or cable to access the Internet?

If you have cable or DSL connection to the Internet at home, you have access to many of the UMKC library on-line resources (databases, full-text articles, etc.) by using your single sign-on account. However, by downloading the VPN (virtual personal network) software, you are able to access all the UMKC resources without repeated prompts for single sign-on. Once you download the software, available from UMKC Information Services at http://umkc.edu/vpn, then you just need to start the client and you should have seamless access to library databases.
