| Your
Instruction Session |
Name of the instructor who will accompany the
class (if different):
Library instruction is most effective when students engage in a
learning partnership between librarians and their teachers. To this
end, please plan to attend the library instruction session with
your class. Testimonials from several peer teachers show that students
learn more effectively and synthesize learning concepts into course-based
topics when teachers participate in library instruction. |
Title of course:
|
UMKC Course number:
|
Desired dates and times:
Please provide your ideal date and time and at least two
alternates. We will try to accommodate your first choice, but can
offer no guarantees because of the high demand on our services.
If you know that you would like some library instruction far in
the future (even next semester), please do not wait to schedule
sessions. The earlier you make your request, the more likely it
is that we will be able to meet your needs.
|
|
Number of students to attend*:
*Please note that we can accommodate class populations up to 30.
If you have classes that are larger than 30, please contact Fu Zhuo, 235-1541, about arranging more
than one library instruction session.
|
Description of class assignment:
Please provide as much information as possible about the assignment
your students are expected to do in the library.
|
Type of instruction:
As a general rule, our instructors can cover a maximum
of two electronic library tools in a 50 minute instruction session.
A typical session might cover the basics of MERLIN (the library
catalog) and one subject-specific database such as MLA International
Bibliography or General Science Index. Details of your needs can
be worked out with the instructor. It is also possible to schedule
more than one instruction session to cover a large amount of material.
