Off-campus access to databases, online journals and ebooks

UMKC students, faculty, and staff may access the University Libraries' databases, online journals, and e-books from off campus. Guests may visit one of the UMKC libraries and use our online resources in person.

Two Ways for Remote Access:

  1. Proxy server access

After selecting a database you will be taken to a login page.  Most people use their UMKC Single Sign On (their UMKC username and password).  Once you have logged in, you should be able use more than one database without logging in again.  Exception: If you use the EBL ebook platform, you will be asked to log in even if you have logged in and used other databases. umkc proxy server login page with single sign-on option highlighted
You can also enter your 8-digit UMKC ID number followed by the letter k (example: 12345678k) and your last name. umkc proxy server login page with UMKC ID number option highlighted

  2. VPN Client

UMKC Information Services provides this downloadable software for students, faculty, and staff to access UMKC network resources with a secure connection. When using the VPN client, no further login is required for library database access. (Exception: If you use the EBL ebook platform, you will be asked to log in).
