The Mirror Crack'd, by Agatha Christie

The Mirror Crack'd book cover

Murder once again touches the residents of St. Mary Mead, home of Miss Jane Marple. American actress Marina Gregg and her husband have recently moved into the area, and host a garden party as a fundraiser for a local charity. One of the guests, Heather Babcock, dies after drinking a poisoned cocktail. Because Marina Gregg had shared her drink with Mrs. Babcock, it is assumed that Gregg was the intended victim. Miss Marple joins forces with Chief Inspector Craddock to sort out the confusion and identify the murderer.

The Under Dog and Other Stories: Three Hercule Poirot Mysteries by Agatha Christie

Agatha Christie

On my commute to work this past week, I have enjoyed listening to an audio book containing three mystery stories by the legendary Agatha Christie. I always enjoy Christie's humorous turn of phrase, her sense of the dramatic, and her writing of witty dialogue between characters. Those of you who have had the opportunity to watch any of the dramatized Poirot stories on the PBS Mystery! series will enjoy the great narration by Hugh Fraser who plays Colonel Hasting to David Suchet's Poirot.
