I Need My Monster, by Amanda Noll

I Need My Monster is the story of Ethan, a little boy who just can't get to sleep without a monster under his bed. When his regular monster goes fishing, he finds himself in a bind. This is a great take on the monster under the bed, as it's clear that Ethan adoes Gabe, his regular monster. As a read-aloud, it has a lot of great opportunities for fun voices as replacement monsters try to scare Ethan. I like Ralph, the business-like monster with a high silky voice who polishes his claws and wears a tie, whereas Shaun likes Ralph, the slobbery monster with the long tongue. Great illustrations really make this book - the look of delight in the little boys eyes when his monster finally comes back is perfect. Highly recommended!
