Hiroshima-Nagasaki: Seventy Years beyond the Bombings

In memory of the seventieth anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima/Nagasaki, Physicians for Social Responsibility-Kansas City and PeaceWorks KC are hosting an exhibit at Miller Nichols Library. The exhibit opens on Thursday, August 6, the anniversary day of the bombing of Hiroshima. The opening ceremony is scheduled from 5:30 until 7pm on August 6. The exhibit remains open until Sunday, Oct. 4

The exhibit will feature Hiroshima Peace Museum posters including images of bombed persons, photos of Robert Del Tredici, and will illustrate the international arms race.

UMKC hosts Latino American Film Series

UMKC will host a series of events focused on Latino-American history, funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The series is hosted by University Libraries in collaboration with the faculty in the Latina/Latino Studies program. Four discussion forums are scheduled for September 2015 through April 2016, with three of the sessions including a showing of a chapter from the six-part Latino Americans: 500 Years of History film series.
