The University Libraries consist of the Miller Nichols Library, the Health Sciences Library and the Dental Library, and we partner with the Leon E. Bloch Law Library. Our mission states that the University Libraries is an essential partner in intellectual discovery, knowledge creation, and empowerment. We would like to announce the completion of the University Libraries’ Strategic Plan for 2008-2013. The library staff have conducted numerous surveys, focus groups, and interviews to understand the needs of the academic programs at UMKC to position the libraries to serve teaching and learning. The strategic plan aligns closely with the planning of the new Miller Nichols Library and other library facility upgrades. The University Libraries will be destination places where students and faculty can work individually or collaboratively in a comfortable, inviting setting that offers options for various learning and research needs. Library staff are currently working on annual operational plans and assessments based on the goals found in the strategic plan.
