communities enhance or restore their capacity for social functioning and
creating societal conditions favorable to this goal" (Barker, 1991, p. 221).
Social work activities can take place in independent institutions such as
settlement houses and community centers, as well as within larger social
institutions such as hospitals and public schools. The resources listed in
