Note: Marketing research can draw on a vast number of resources, so this subject guide is quite large. It includes resources held at UMKC in addition to resources found at three surrounding public libraries - Mid-Continent Public Library, Kansas City (MO) Public Library and Johnson County Public Library. Some of these resources duplicate the UMKC resources. Residents in the metropolitan Kansas City area are permitted to have borrowing cards at all three of these public systems and are encouraged to do so in order to have access to a rich array of business resources.

  Check their "Regional Data" section. MARC seeks to build a stronger regional community through cooperation, leadership and planning. As a voluntary association, MARC strives to foster better understanding and cooperation on issues that extend beyond the jurisdiction of a single city, county or state. These issues include transportation, childcare, aging, emergency services, environmental issues and a host of others.

  The MCDC Program is a cooperative operating under a memorandum of understanding between the Office of the Secretary of State (www.sos.mo.gov/Default.asp) and the U.S. Bureau of the Census (www.census.gov). The Missouri State Library (www.sos.mo.gov/library) in the Office of the Secretary of State is the agency responsible for the program. MCDC holdings consists of more than 2,000 public machine readable data files (mcdc2.missouri.edu/) and numerous printed reports. Economic indicators, education, health, employment, geography (GIS), and agriculture. They also can supply the PUMS census data sets which give very detailed census data information.
