To Find Articles

Remote (off-campus) access to databases is available only to UMKC students, faculty, and staff. All other users must access online resources within the Libraries. Begin searching by selecting a database. After selection you will be prompted to provide a UMKC Single Sign-On user name and password OR a 9-digit UMKC ID number followed by the letter k (example: 0123456789k) and last name, as needed.

  "The ProQuest Dissertations & Theses database is the world's most comprehensive collection of dissertations and theses. It is the database of record for graduate research, with over 2.3 million dissertations and theses included from around the world. Each dissertation published since July 1980 includes a 350-word abstract written by the author. Master's theses published since 1988 include 150-word abstracts. Bibliographic citations are available for dissertations dating from 1861, and more than 60,000 new citations are added to the database every year." Books (6000+) are also indexed (no full text).

  An online news service from Science magazine. Articles are posted daily except U.S. holidays.

• Scirus 1920 - present.     Save to del.icio.us
  Large in scope with a user-friendly interface, this search engine is an excellent research tool for finding scientific information on the Internet. It indexes more than 167 million web pages as well is a number of online article citation collections. The citations often link to full text, but a subscription to the specific journal might be required to access the document.

  Full text 1996 - present; coverage varies by title.
  A broad spectrum of electronic journals in the sciences and social sciences published by John Wiley & Sons. Includes full text articles, citations and abstracts for journals. Full text is generally available beginning in 1996 or 1997, although coverage does vary by title. Citations and abstracts are often available for articles published earlier; coverage varies by title.
